Ben Affleck is the new Batman.  "The Hollywood Reporter" says the "Argo" star will join Henry Cavill in the upcoming "Man of Steel" sequel, which will see Superman and Batman on the big screen for the first time.  Warner Brothers announced the cast addition Thursday.  Zack Snyder, who guided Cavill through his Superman role in "Man Of Steel," will also direct the sequel.  The new movie is on track for release in 2015.

The Affleck announcement ends speculation about who would don the cowl and cape for the "Man Of Steel" sequel after Christian Bale retired from the role following the last trio of Batman films.  The Batman role will mark Affleck's third time in a superhero outfit.  He played Daredevil in the 2003 film of the same name and 1950s TV Superman George Reeves in the 2006 movie "Hollywoodland."
