Iowa City Police Investigate Armed Robbery
Posted on Monday, August 04, 2014 at 6:13 AMOn August 4, 2014, at 3:31 a.m., Iowa City Police Officers responded to Kum & Go at 955 Mormon Trek Boulevard for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. According to the victim clerk, two people approached the entrance. One person entered while the other stood as lookout at the door. The person who entered had a black handgun displayed and pointed it directly at the victim as he demanded money from the cash register. The suspect then jumped over the counter and took money out of the register while holding the employee at gunpoint. After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect jumped back over the counter and fled the area. The victim did not sustain any injuries during the attack.
The suspects are described as follows:
• Suspect #1 (who entered the store) was a black male approximately 5'9" - 5'11", 160-170 lbs., wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, tan work boots, and dark long pants with his face covered with a white mask.
• Suspect #2 (who served as the lookout) was described as a black male, approximately 5'9" - 5'11", 150-170 lbs., wearing dark colored pants, dark colored shoes with white soles, a dark colored sweatshirt, and covering his head with a red mask.
The Iowa City Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, the Coralville Police Department, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, and the University of Iowa Police Department.
