The Boston Celtics have bolstered their roster by signing former New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson and veteran guard Mike Conley. Robinson, who played a key role in the Knicks' recent NBA championship win, agreed to a three-year, $47.4 million contract with the Celtics. Known for his defensive prowess and rebounding skills, Robinson averaged 5.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game last season, shooting an impressive 72.3% from the field. However, he has struggled with injuries and free-throw shooting, hitting just 40.8% from the line last season.

The Celtics also signed Conley to a one-year deal. Entering his 20th NBA season, Conley brings experience and leadership to Boston. Last season, he averaged 4.5 points and 2.9 assists per game with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Conley is recognized for his sportsmanship, having won the league's Sportsmanship Award four times.

NBC Sports Boston reports that Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens aimed to strengthen the team's presence at the rim and add speed to the backcourt. Robinson's signing addresses the need for a strong interior defender, while Conley adds depth and experience to the guard position.

Robinson's career has been marked by his elite shot-blocking ability and high shooting percentage. He was drafted by the Knicks in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft and quickly became an integral part of their defense. Despite his injury history, Robinson's impact on the court has been significant, helping the Knicks achieve their first NBA title in over 50 years.

Yahoo Sports notes that Robinson's move to Boston is expected to enhance the Celtics' defense and rebounding capabilities. Conley's veteran presence is anticipated to provide stability and mentorship to the younger players on the team.

The Boston Globe highlights that Robinson's addition fills a gap left by the departure of backup big man Nikola Vucevic. With Robinson and Conley, the Celtics aim to compete fiercely in the upcoming NBA season.
