Rumors were that Jeanie Buss had reached out to Riley in an attempt to get him back to the West Coast and get him in the front office. But Riley denied that on Monday in a recent interview with writer Jackie MacMullan, Riley had some thoughts about returning to the Lakers but wasn't contacted by anybody from the organization.
”I have thought about returning to the Lakers only from a sentimental standpoint,” Riley said. “But I was never pursued by them. Nobody officially contacted me. I have about 20 friends wishing I would come back, but nobody asked.
As of right now, it looks as if the Lakers are very comfortable with Rob Pelinka and Kurt Rambis leading in the charge in the front office and don't have plans to change that.
