Claims of Racism at Fever/Sky Game Seem Far-Fetched

The growing discussion surrounding Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark’s rivalry has devolved into accusations of racism after their latest altercation and Doug Gottlieb is disappointed by the change in focus. WNBA crowds don’t usually attract rowdy, mean-spirited fans that are likely to spout that kind of ugly rhetoric and he finds this accusation leveled at the Indiana Fever fans to be unlikely at best.

Doug Gottlieb: “Based upon body language I think most of us are like; it appears pretty obvious that Angel Reese doesn’t like Caitlin Clark. Like, does anyone argue with that? I don’t think anybody does. OK. So, to take that into some discussion about race, about black women, about the birthplace of the KKK, where the assumption of racist things being yelled out from a crowd when no one heard it, and it seems super far-fetched. That’s not the type of audience that happens in, I’m sorry to tell you. I’m really lost in this discussion. It disappoints me. It doesn’t surprise me.”
